Hey y'all. I'm dumping on some of the graphics I've produced for the student newspapers the last two issues or so. This isn't all of it, just a taste. We're almost done finalizing the new Flag for the consolidated paper, so sadly I can't post all that stuff. Hence this stopgap post. Enjoy.

Cheers everyone. I hope you're glad to discover I've still got a pulse. I've neglected this blog due the fact that I haven't had much time to draw, as I've been involved with two of the student newspapers at Miami Dade College—the Metropolis and The Falcon Times (web version).

The College's three papers are being consolidated into one publication, so some cool stuff will be produced in the coming weeks.

I'm at New World now, after a year of not going to art school. It should be fun.

I've been drawing a lot more, or at least trying to, so I'm going to try to post some sketches weekly. Don't get your hopes up, they won't be as epic as this one.

Got a new sketchbook in Cleveland, one that is exactly like the ones I used back in high school at DASH: a black hard leather bound 8.5 x 11" concoction of creamy white paper. My hope is that the old DASH me and and the new Miamian in Cleveland back to Miami version of me will unite in a cataclysmic orgy of robots, guns and chainsaws. It's beginning.

I'm trying to change the way i paint, make t more dynamic and cool looking, and less boring for me to produce. I'm making some headway. I've also found out that whenever I start to draw without a plan of what I am going to do, one of two things happen: A face or a Robot. I'm so predictable.

Steampunk Melee Weapons

Hey there yall, just posting three Steampunk Melee weapons I'm doing for a Steampunk themed unreal mod with a couple fo guys. Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed naming them ( "the disembowler" is my favourite by far ).

There's a good chunk of work I can't post, cause it's been NDA'd, but rest assured, as soon as I get permission, you guys will get a nice big dump of stuff.

On the personal front, trying to make tuition to go back to CIA, which has a new website. Also have switched day and night, to very uncomfortable consequences.

I cleaned out my computer, to make PS run faster, and I'm proud to say, this heap o' junk does not disappoint when there isn't 80Gb worth of Torrentz on it.

Ignore the giant numbers, these are some sketches for a project I'm working on with a development team. They're in no specific order, just my faves out the bunch. In any case, I went on hiatus for an ungodly amount of time, getting some well deserved rest. Well, now I am back, and ready to work like nutso.

Check out Bob Rivard, he is one of the guys I'm working with, pretty cool dude from what I've gathered so far, and a solid artist.

Super Serious, Super Cereal. I have not done anything new, well, except move to a new house, have a kick ass barbecue, go to a crappy Girl Talk concert made as so by sweaty CASE kids trying to crush me. It's OK, I will be leaving for Miami this friday, then I can begin to renew, maybe actually draw for the first time in a while, I feel like I have to get it out of my system.

My buddy Rigo, who is an up and coming photographer (click here for site), will be photographing Cuban superstar Willy Chirino, at some point in the near future. Finally, I see the six degrees of seperation happening before my eyes.

In any case, he showed me this funny site: A photographer who goes out and photographs nightclubs, and concurrently, all the ridiculous macabre stuff that goes on within (Ambrel Photography, click here for link). Definitely NSFW (not safe for work). Apparently public nudity has surpassed dancing as top activity to do ina club. I can't wait for 2010, I wonder what will happen then.

I will maybe do some work, if not, I'll just keep being lazy and share all of my internet junk/treasure with yall.

Final Projects

This Project was to design an 8,5 x 11 spread for a magazine of our choice. We were given an article, and had to design a spread with either all or part of the article, and an illustration of our choice. Again, it was pretty fun, even though I'm growing less fond of this spread the more I see it.

This project entailed the designing of a gig poster for a band of our choice, with a limitation of making the poster producible by old school woodblock letterpress. Tons of fun, I never thought I would be one to enjoy graphic design. There's a really cool resource for gig posters, ironically, its gigposters.com, it contains a lot of posters from almost every band imaginable. Check it.

Here is the Final Rendering for the Fighter. Not quite final; My Professor suggested I do one with the engine burning up, and then one with the guns blazing, and maybe one with R2D2, and the monster from the twilight zone on the wing.

Ok, so I've been having the most horrible week in recent memory:

1) My Glasses broke, 4 times, and need to be replaced.
2) My AC adapter for my laptop caught on fire; I can't charge my laptop.
3) It's finals.
4) My grandpa just died.

A toast to life then, for always keeping things fresh and interesting.

I've been trying to get looser and faster with my Painting. So I put all my real work aside to do this one hour portrait. I got all the elements on the page in less than 40 minutes, and then embellished for a while. I've got to stop that, it's a bad habit. If you wonder why this is in Hindi, it's because I accidentally hit the Hindi typing tool. The really funny thing is that I've been listening to Bollywood Music for hours now. Fun Stuff.

Si, I was recently the victim of some Identity Theft. I found out in a surprisingly convenient way: I was asleep, my phone rang, someone from my bank asked me if I had spent $1200 in Lebanon, I said no and they cancelled my card. I love CharterOne. So, all I have to do now is wait until those $1200 dollars in porn, gas and hotel fees post to my account, so then I can file a claim, get my money back and all is good. In the meanwhile here is a little monster fella, who Im going to pretend was the one who stole my card on a crazy bachelor party trip to Lebanon. Fuck Lebanon.

Well, I decided I needed to warm up on digital painting, considering I haven't done it in ages. This is the character+vehicle me and Vaughan have been working on. I think it turned out well, considering it was about 3 hours of work, the last half hour of which was spent picking a font and reading a comment someone left me reprimanding me for me jokingly generalizing African music. C'est la Vie, in any case, me and my girlfriend spent a good hour and a half on Sexy People, " a celebration of the perfect portrait". Check it out.

Sorry for the lack of posting...i found myself not really wanting to do anything...I think it was the fact that the sketchbook I had was monstrously big...its so awkward to draw in...so i got a small one...and now its all better...:D
